Delor asked for ideas on bridging the gap between her and her partner’s very different organization habits, but it seemed to me this was rather a symptom of a broader problem. Reading Delor’s space, it felt like all things were coming at her at once, and all at the same volume. She handles the overwhelming amount of stimulation around her like a pro, sending love to everything and everyone who crosses her path. But she seems to have gotten lost. The work can never be finished, and at the end of the day, she seems to take the cold leftovers for herself. Prioritizing the incoming to-do’s and recentering herself in her space can help Delor let go of some obligations and fill her own cup more easily and more often. I suggested some easy ways to remove visual clutter and organize commonly used items, showed her how to rearrange her living room to claim the space she deserves while still honoring her plants and cat, and recommend she include some more grounding influences, like a symmetrical gallery wall of things or places she loves. Finally, adding a usable place to eat opens the door for more conversation time between Delor and her partner - that is, when they can both get the same few minutes free!
Delor’s exceptional caretaking abilities were on display in her home, but self prioritization was not.
