What is holistic healing?

Holistic healing recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, emotion, and spirit and therefore approaches healing in a way that honors the wholeness of a person.

The foundation of holistic healing is the understanding that everything is connected.

Do your thoughts affect your sleep patterns? Does your home environment impact your emotions? Does stress cause disease? By now it’s clear that holistic factors can undermine your health. More and more, the modern world is acknowledging that healing, too, must be done holistically. Treating the body alone is not enough to live a healthy life, and holistic practitioners are needed to reach the true cause(s) of disease, unease, and dissatisfaction. By identifying and healing the root cause, receivers of holistic healing experience holistic wellness as well, finding peace in all areas of life.

Holistic healing

refers to a large umbrella of practices, modalities, and healers (see the directory for a growing list of them). It includes ancient, cultural practices used over thousands of years as well as newly crafted modalities that integrate both modern science and holistic philosophy. Perhaps for this reason, it can be difficult to pin down in our minds.

And because there are so many options available, you might feel unsure about which is right for you. But that’s exactly what this website is for!

Just to clarify

Holistic Healing: any healing approach that accounts for the wholeness of a person, body, mind, and spirit.

Western Medicine: commonly found in clinics and hospitals, where the body is the main focus and treatment offered is generally bandages, prescriptions, and surgeries.

Complementary Medicine: Holistic healing treatment used in conjunction with Western medicine.

Alternative Medicine: Holistic healing treatment used instead of Western medicine.
